BEST OF BRITISH COCKTAIL SUGAR

JUBILEE GIN FIZZ

Do you remember that time, back in 2012, when there was a terrific (dare I say) vibe about the whole of the UK? The eyes of the world were upon us. We hosted the Olympics and gold medal after gold medal kept coming our way.

Our Queen had been on the throne for 60 years and the country partied. We met neighbours that we’d never met before. We closed roads and underused pasting tables around the nation took the strain of egg butties, sausage rolls and Victoria sponges as we celebrated beneath the streetlights and the bunting. The weather was amazing and it was just the perfect year.

2022 sees our Queen rack up 70 years on the throne. 70 YEARS! Can you imagine doing 70 years of anything?

ANOTHER CRACKING YEAR

In anticipation of some more fabulous weather and some good old fashioned knees-ups, I have bravely taken one for the team (I know, poor me) and put together my current faves to create my long drink of the year.  The country, nay the world, needs a good time right now, and this cocktail will certainly see me, and hopefully you now, through the summer months.

Using the Best of British Cocktail Sugar (red, white and blue – it was like it had been planned for this very moment) and using the only Gin that I possibly could for this cocktail – Spitfire Heritage Gin  – then combining with the summer scent of Elderflower liqueur makes for the cocktail we all need now.

Throw in some Red, White & Blue cupcakes (with thanks to Violet, she used the cocktail sugar as sprinkles) and wave your flags like never before.

The eyes of the world are, once again, upon us and I’d like to say a huge ‘Congratulations Ma’am’ to our nation’s leader. #GSTQ

Read on for the what and how.
